Depart early from Marrakech and cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), stopping for panoramic views and traditional Berber villages. Explore the iconic fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its appearance in numerous films. Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” for a quick visit to the Taourirt Kasbah or Atlas Studios. In the late afternoon, travel through the Valley of the Roses and the Road of 1,000 Kasbahs, reaching the beautiful Dades Gorge for dinner and overnight in a traditional guesthouse or riad.

Continue to the edge of the Sahara, arriving in Merzouga in the late afternoon. Here, your camel caravan awaits to take you on a sunset trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Rise early to catch the magical sunrise over the dunes, then return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. After breakfast, begin your journey north through the sweeping Ziz Valley, filled with palm groves and hidden oases. Pass through Midelt, nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Continue through the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where you may spot Barbary macaques, and make a brief stop in the alpine town of Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco”.
