3-Day Desert Tour from Fes to Marrakech via Merzouga

Your desert adventure begins with morning pick-up from your hotel or riad in Fes. We travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for its alpine-style architecture. Next, we visit the cedar forest in Azrou, home to wild Barbary monkeys. Continuing south, we pass through Midelt and follow the scenic Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and oasis villages. By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here, you’ll ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes and enjoy a spectacular sunset before spending the night in a traditional Berber desert camp, complete with dinner, music, and stargazing.

After sunrise and breakfast at the camp, we depart by 4×4 and drive towards Rissani, known for its historic market and cultural heritage. We then head to the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where massive rock walls rise over 300 meters high — a perfect spot for a scenic walk and photos. After some free time, we continue along the famous Road of 1000 Kasbahs, passing Berber villages and oases, until we reach the stunning Dades Valley. You’ll spend the night in a traditional guesthouse with dinner and beautiful views of the valley.

On the final day, we drive through the Valley of Roses and reach Ouarzazate, also known as the “Hollywood of Africa.” We visit the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its mudbrick ksar used in films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring the kasbah, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), stopping for photos along the way. We arrive in Marrakech in the evening and drop you off at your accommodation, ending your unforgettable Sahara desert tour.
